Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

You can request a repeat prescription by returning your repeat slip, marking the items required with a tick, ordering using the online service, or by ringing the dispensary (01954) 231460.

You can also request prescriptions online using SystmOnline if you are registered.

If you are not already registered for online prescription ordering please ask at reception. Your prescription will be available for you to pick up in two working days. Prescriptions must be signed and paid for at the time of collection. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you are unable to wait 2 days please speak with the Dispenser who will try to expedite your request.

Swavesey Surgery has an on-site dispensary where patients can have their prescription dispensed.

Medication requests that are not on repeat

If you require a medication that is not on repeat then you will need to discuss this with the dispensary so that they can raise the request with a doctor.

Please can we ask that you do not write it on the bottom of your repeat slip, or send a note with your on-line prescription order as the dispensary staff will not be able to deal with it.

Over the counter medicines

Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines are those that can be sold directly to people without a prescription, that are available to buy from your local pharmacy or supermarket. OTC medicines treat a variety of illnesses and their symptoms including pain, coughs and colds, diarrhea, constipation, acne, and others.

Community Pharmacy Consultation Scheme

We are participating in a new service from 1st April 2022 that will direct patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional when booking an appointment, which may be a local community pharmacist, either virtually or at their pharmacy.

We believe this is a good thing, as your local pharmacist is a highly trained and skilled clinician experienced in treating minor illnesses, and should be quicker.  This will help free up GPs to deal with more complex health needs and ensure that everyone gets treated at the right time, by the right healthcare professional.

We will be listening to patients about their experience of using this service to inform how we can improve things, and so are keen to hear your views.  You will be advised how to give this feedback when you access the Community Pharmacy Service.
