Appointment re-prioritisation

We would like to keep our patients updated on the current situation with regards to appointments at the surgery.  Since covid the increase in appointment demand has risen dramatically and we have been striving to keep the wait for a routine appointment at two weeks.  However, due to the recent Strep A, scarlett fever and also the winter viruses, chest infections and flu we are experiencing even more unprecedented demand for urgent appointments.  In order to ensure that we continue to deliver safe care we are having to increase our same day appointments, as advised by the Chief Medical Officer of the Integrated Care Board, Cambridge and Peterborough.  We regret that this will incur longer wait times of three to four weeks for a routine appointment during January.

We would ask that you continue to contact us if you are unwell and we will endeavour to see as many patients as we can.  We may also be able to offer you an appointment at another local surgery through the winter ‘surge hub scheme’ or extended access appointments.

Our GPs are facing high demand right now and are prioritising urgent issues. If your issue isn’t urgent, please consider whether you can stay well at home or visit 111.nhs.uk for urgent advice.

The doctors and staff at Swavesey Surgery are all working extremely hard during these challenging times and we thank you for your understanding and patience.
